It is absolutely amazing what the small fonera Wifi-router can achieve with only 2W power consumption.
Hereafter is a new feature that can also be performed by the standalone fonera, in addition to all others ! (Wifi Bridge for pc, embedded web site...)
The need is quite simple: you want to control your Automower robot through sending of a simple Email or SMS. The only thing to do, is to create a personnal Email adress for your robot at a free Email provider. For example you create the Email: robot.R2D2@vfemail.net . It must be a simple POP3 Email account, without SSL encryption (so gmail for example is not possible, but vfemail.net works like a charm and registration is trivial).
In order to make your automower return to home, you just send following Email containing "AUTOMOWER => HOME" (the subject of the email is ignored):
In order to make him work again ,you just send following Email containing "AUTOMOWER
=> AUTO" (the subject of the email is ignored):
The fonera will automatically look for Emails every 5 minutes and it will send automatically the corresponding order to the robot.
You can send the email from every Email account you want, only destination Email and content are important. The real keywords of the content for sending orders to the robot are not published on this website for security reasons, the keywords given here "AUTOMOWER => HOME" are only examples.
Instead of sending an Email, you can also control your robot by sending an SMS. This is very simple:
- for sending your robot at home, you send the SMS "robot.R2D2@vfemail.net AUTOMOWER => HOME" to +44 77 66 40 41 42
- for making him work again, you send the SMS "robot.R2D2@vfemail.net AUTOMOWER => HOME" to +44 77 66 40 41 42
Cost of one order is just the cost of a simple SMS, the relay of the SMS to the Email is free thanks to sms2email .
